CertificationHarm.org is organized, managed, and paid for by the physicians of peds4mocreform.org. In collecting signatures for our petition to reform pediatric MOC, thousands of stories of harm flooded our inbox, and not just from pediatricians.
Physicians are hurting, brilliant careers are ending, patients are losing their doctors…and it’s all happening silently. Every doctor thinks they are alone, and don’t know where to turn for help. The coercion, discrimination, and restriction of trade continues because we remain silent and the scope of the problem is not known. Lawyers will not listen and the FTC will not listen until we can present solid cases of harm, and there is plenty of harm.
Please, share your story. If your hospital requires MOC, let us know. If your insurance company requires MOC, let us know. If you’ve lost a job, your hospital privileges or your insurance credentialing for not participating in MOC, let us know. If you’ve lost your board certification due to medical hardship and inability to participate in MOC, let us know. If you are denied choice of certifying boards and can only certify through ABMS/AOA, this is a monopoly. Let us know.
If you’ve suffered depression, anxiety, substance abuse, suicidal ideation and attempts from failing a certification or recertification exam, please realize you are not alone. Share your story.
As physicians, we take an oath the “first, do no harm“. Forced MOC is the antithesis of medical professionalism: it has no proven benefit, yet causes clear harm to physicians and patients.
